Unbelievably we are already nearing the end of the first half term of this academic year. It has been a very busy time, with lots of very successful Year 5 and Year 6 promotional events which have been complemented and supported by our student volunteers, for whose help, maturity and professionalism I am very grateful.

We are nearing the end of our school restaurant development and I am looking forward to being able to share with you photos of the end result. The money currently being invested into the North Kesteven Centre site is very exciting and means that future generations of North Kesteven School students, as well as the local community, are guaranteed to be able to access first class sporting facilities. The 3G pitch is already complete, and, as part of our transition package, NK School is organising a primary school football competition to take place later this year.

Teaching and learning delivered in a creative and inspiring atmosphere remains at the heart of what we do here at North Kesteven School, and, with primary school parents submitting their decision for their child's secondary school at the end of this month we look forward to soon knowing who has opted to come to our school and I look forward to welcoming them into our school community.

Our next newsletter will be available just before the half term holiday which will update you on school related information. Hhowever, if you can't wait until then, remember our official Facebook page and our website are regularly updated with our news and achievements.

With my best wishes,

September 2014

teachersblogA big 'hello' and 'welcome' to new students and staff who joined North Kesteven School on the 3rd September. I hope that you have a very happy, fulfilling and successful educational and professional journey with us.

I trust that everyone had a lovely Summer holiday. As you have no doubt read in the press, on our website and official Facebook page our students did fantastically well with their A-Level and GCSE results. Once again they place us amongst the top schools in the Lincoln area. I am very proud of each and every one of them and wish them well for their future.

The beginning of the term has been very busy, and very positive. Lots of new Year 7 students to meet and help as they find their way around our extensive school site; it is always very comforting to see them a few weeks into the term where they are already confident and settled into our friendly school community. We are very busy preparing for our forthcoming Open Evenings on the 16th and 24th September; these are very important opportunities for Year 5 and Year 6 students to visit us and see the fantastic opportunities that are open to them should they choose us to deliver their secondary education. I do urge you to come, meet our staff and students, look around our site and enjoy a couple of hours with us either next Tuesday or the following Wednesday, there will be lots to see!

I am pleased to report that we are nearing the end of our Restaurant extension and refurbishment. Building works have overrun slightly, however, we look forward to being able to show you the finished building soon! Those visiting us on the Open Evenings will be able to see how far the work has come since July from a series of displays for you to view. You will also be able to view the plans and drawings for the £3.6M Sports Centre Refurbishment which will give us truly outstanding facilities for sport and the arts.

I look forward to writing to you again soon.

July 2014

teachersblogWe are now in the penultimate week of the Summer term and the staff and students are as active as ever with Commendation Assemblies, Sports Day, Sports Presentation Evening and Final Assembly yet to come!  The Summer newsletter will be distributed during the last week of term and I do urge you to read about all the fantastic things that we have achieved recently.

During the past few weeks we have said farewell to our Year 11 and Year 13 students after they have completed a long examination period where they all conducted themselves with great maturity and diligence.  The majority of our Year 11 students came back on the 30th June to complete a 3 day induction into the North Hykeham Joint Sixth Form which went very successfully and I trust that they will enjoy their post 16 studies in September.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all departing members of the North Kesteven School family whether they be staff or students all the very best in their future studies and careers and to welcome those staff and students joining us in September.  I hope that you all have a very relaxing Summer Holiday.

June 2014

teachersblogWelcome back after the half term holiday. Our Year 10, Year 11 and Sixth Form students are getting back into the swing of taking their exams, and these seem to be going very smoothly with revision classes well attended.

The sun is shining and hopefully Summer has now arrived for us. The school site is looking clean, bright and tidy with the Site Team continuing with their painting programme over the recent break.

Our Year 5 Open Morning Tours commenced yesterday and will continue through until the 13th June. These are proving to be a great success with lots of Year 5 children and their families making the most of the opportunity to visit our school, speak with staff and students and aid them in making the important choice of which school they will select for their secondary education. There will be further opportunities for primary school children to visit us throughout the next few months, including our Open Evenings on the 16th and 24th September 2014.

There are lots of events in the diary for the remaining six weeks of the term including the Year 11 and 13 Leaver's Days and Proms, Sports Day, the Sports Presentation Evening and an invitation to the Lincolnshire Education Awards 2014. I will ensure that you are kept up to date with the achievements and experiences of our students via our next newsletter, our school website and the North Kesteven School Facebook page.
